Farewell Big White...I'll miss you!

Wow, I can't believe the day has finally come. Kaitlyn and I left Kelowna today at 1:30pm (local time) and arrived in Vancouver 48 minutes later. We're staying at the Delta Airport Hotel, thanks to the cheap rate my sister, Shannon, helped get us. It's nice to be spoiled one last time before staying in hostels (where we have been warned about bed bugs many times...here's to hoping that it's not an issue) for 12 days. After having a wonderful dinner of fish and chips at the restaurant, Pier 71, attached to the hotel and receiving a FREE apple pie with ice cream, I had some time to write. So here's my story from the last few days:

I said goodbye to Big White for the last time this year on Friday. I went down all my favourite runs; some black diamonds, some
blue squares, and of course tree runs. I'm glad that I got to snowboard with both Eric and Kaitlyn this winter. It was Kaitlyn's first time seeing mountains in person and she was pretty impressed. Tons of memories made and lots of pictures taken. It was definitely a great two months spent snowboarding and of course, sleeping in on many days too. Cheers to the 2011/12 snowboarding season. Until next year, Big White....

Big White isn't the only place I'm sad to be leaving behind. Kelowna has been a nice place to live. It's the perfect size and I do like the mild weather in the winter. I still find it weird that downtown Kelowna will have no snow, Black Mountain (where my parents house is) gets a little bit of snow, and then Big White has tons of snow. Don't be fooled by the pictures taken in the city; there is definitely snow around! And of course, I'll miss my parents and my dog, Willow, too. Though it's a cool feeling to check into a hotel under my own name with my best friend by my side. So cheers to the first night away from home!

The Start of a New Adventure

Hey everyone,

Here's the start of my story for my time overseas, most of which will be spent in Australia, but some in New Zealand as well. This coming Monday, January 30th, I will board a flight bound for Sydney and start my 5-month adventure on the other side of the world. I can't believe the time has finally come; I'm nervous about going so far from my home but also full of excitement for all of the new experiences that await. Here's to hoping there will be lots of time spent on beaches (and to go with that, I'm sure, some hopefully mild sunburns),  lots of pictures taken, and tons of fun.

During the first eleven days of my journey, I will be spending some time in Sydney before travelling throughout New Zealand for a week with my best friend, Kaitlyn. We have made some plans already, but for the most part we're just expecting to go wherever the wind may take us and enjoy our excursion around the islands before going our separate ways to begin our studies.

I can't wait to start living in Adelaide, because let's face it, after living all over Canada, it's time to try somewhere hotter. An international game of hide-and-seek is about to begin, so feel free to drop in any time and find out where adventures have taken me next!
